What is Carter Family Angus?

Carter Family Angus has evolved from the dreams of an Indiana farm boy, cultivated by his involvement in 4-H and FFA, fueled by his passion for a better way of life for himself and his family.

Carter Family Angus is located in Arthur County, Nebraska. The cow herd runs on native range from May to November, supplemented only with mineral. Cows are wintered on range and cake to within 30 days of calving. Calving season is from January through March.

The strength of our program is our cow herd. Our selection process for the cow herd is based on the following:
    1. Maternal Traits
    2. Growth - Our customers sell their calves by the pound
    3. Balance - EPDs are key to our selection process
    4. Phenotype - Cattle must be balanced, sound, moderate-framed, with adequate bone and stoutness.

For the past 17 years our bulls have been well received by the most discriminating commercial cattlemen in America; those of the Sandhills ranches of Nebraska. In addition, a number of Carter bulls have been sold all over the country to elite seedstock operations. Carter bulls are sold on the second Monday of February at our annual production sale.

Our cow herd has produced many champions in the show ring at every level of competition. Junior show heifer prospects and elite females are marketed in November at our "Maternal Excellence Heifer Sale."

Thank you for stopping by and please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss our cattle.
